The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Book Review. Book Summary “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” are placed in the middle of 19th century in a small town called St. Petersburg. The main character is a boy named Tom Sawyer who lives with his aunt Polly and younger brother Sid.

Huck Finn is drawn from life; Tom Sawyer also, but not from an individual -- he is a combination of the characteristics of three boys whom I knew, and therefore belongs to the composite order.
